The Mariners Museum

Because it looked like this outside

 We decided to go to the Mariners Museum.  We learnt all about boats in Chesapeake bay from Native American dugouts to speed boats.

 we also got to see a large exhibit on the Iron-clad monitor and Virginia.  pretty cool stuff that i didn't take any pictures of because i was trying to speed read.  Here is zac lounging in the captains bed. 

 They had an entire room dedicated to Nelson...this picture is for you dad

 tons of cool little boats and really little miniature collection that was so cool you couldn't take pictures.

 and of course they had to talk about titanic in the shipwrecked exhibit.  after walking through that and reading some of the stories from people who have been shipwrecked i never ever want to get on a boat ever again.  seriously, very disturbing.  titanic stories seem pretty tame comparatively.  although it was a little creepy that they had a titanic life vest that a grandson of on undertaker had donated from a body that washed ashore....yep gross. so glad the boys can't read yet.

There was so much more stuff we didn't see because the boys were done and some of the museum was flooded (see above rain. 7inches of it)
Anyway if you are ever in the area I would go to the mariners museum even if you have 3 little kids and don't really like boats.
